The Best Muscle Building Diet

By Sam Holmes

Let's start with riding you of a delusion protein supplement is a must for muscle building. Or are you convinced that you need to pack in tons of protein supplements to help you build muscle. Can't blame you, as when almost all magazines and even many bodybuilders say that you need those protein supplements to convert the fat into muscle. Don't believe it, it's not true.

The first myth in this whole argument is that there is no possible way that you can convert fat into muscle. Fat has to burned off. Sorry, there is no easy way out of this. And only when that is done can you build new muscle. So first off, you need to begin exercising with purpose - to burn fat.

But what's the hype about these magic powders and supplements that are supposed to transform you without much effort from your part? Figure out what the tin of protein powder contains. You will find that most protein comes from milk and eggs. This has to be dried and processed to make it into powder. And when did dried and dehydrated foods gain supernatural properties to transform fat into muscle? Secondly, if this dried, processed stuff is good for you, have you thought how much more effective the egg and milk would be in its original form?

Take eggs, for instance. Egg whites are high on protein content and is a must when building muscle or trying to lose weight and strength training. But don touch the egg yolks as they have a high fat content. You are allowed just one egg yolk as part of your breakfast, if you so desire.

Studies have shown that most body builders and strong men consumed a lot of hard boiled eggs. It was a great snack for them - eating the white and discarding the yellow. This gave them a full day's supply of high quality protein. There is no dearth for eggs and thankfully they are cheap.

Another important source of protein is chicken breast which is rich in protein and low on fat because it is lean white meat. It is great to eat it grilled with citrus marinade. It is extremely nutritious and a great muscle builder. Buy them cheaper during a sale and stock up in the freezer. This will provide you your daily intake of high quality protein and is better than the processed, dried and canned meat.

Fish is another important source of protein and must be a part of your diet. The best way to prepare it would be to grill it with a flavoring of lime or a little lemon. Even if you didn't quite like fish, if you change the way you cook then you will enjoy it. Needless to say, fish is has the best protein you can get.

Milk, as your only source of protein is not advisable even though many dry protein supplements are derived from milk. There is a high content of lactose in milk. Lactose is a form of sugar that does not help to burn fat or build muscle. It will only be a hindrance to those ripped muscles that you are trying to build. A small quantity of milk daily is fine but not as a primary source of protein.

Remember that nourishments is as important as your workout, even if the natural protein will not act as fast as the supplements. When you spend so much time working out don't you think you can spend some time cooking up an exciting nutritious meal which would also help you build muscles.
